An estimated two in three school-aged children and youth have experienced traumatic events that have the potential to impact brain development, social functioning, and the ability to learn and engage in school. Small changes in classroom interactions and responses can make a huge difference in the lives of students who have been exposed to trauma. After attending this session, participants will:
- Have a working definition of trauma;
- Understand trauma’s effects on the brain, learning, social functioning and motivation;
- Learn seven practical, trauma-informed strategies for that can be implemented immediately;
- Receive resources and links to strategies and tools for trauma-informed classrooms.
